Frequently Asked Questions

1.Why has my service company never covered my heater?

The Weather-Out™ pool heater cover is a new product. Up until now there has not been a proper and affordable way to cover pool heaters. Many service companies and retailers have not yet heard of Weather-Out™ covers and have had no alternative to offer their customers. As soon as they become educated about this product we are sure they will agree with many other companies that Weather-out™ covers offer exceptional protection for your heater.

2. Wouldn't a tarp secured with a rope work just as well?

Well first of all, having the heater covered with a tarp and rope looks unsightly and it is unlikely that a pool owner would choose to have that in their backyard rather than an attractive, custom-made heater cover. But having said that, the most pressing point is the build up and trapping of moisture. We have seen pool owners who have their entire system wrapped with a plastic tarp and roped tight thinking that everything is nestled dry and protected from the weather. Quite the opposite is true. They are, in fact, trapping in harmful moisture and doing more harm than good. The Weather-Out™ heater cover is lined on the inside to combat this problem. In addition, it is loosely fitted to allow air circulation around the heater at all times.

3. What is "damaging and efficiency hampering debris"?

Damaging and efficiency hampering debris includes, but is not limited to, leaves, pine needles, twigs, and any other sort of debris that can land in or be blown into the heater. This debris can damage the heater by sitting and getting jammed into the heat exchanger (The expensive copper and finned tubing that the pool water is sent through to be heated). This debris will collect and retain damaging moisture, attract insects and rodents, and in worst case scenarios, catch fire. This sort of debris can simply be brushed off the top of a heater covered with a Weather-Out™ cover.

4. Would it be worthwhile to cover an older heater that might already have debris in it?

It is definitely worthwhile to cover your heater now. You will receive the benefits of protecting your heater during periods of non-use for the remainder of its life. Any debris should be cleaned out of the heater before covering, either try it yourself or ask your service company.

5) Why hasn't my service company covered my diving board in the past?

Just like Weather-Out™ heater covers, our diving board covers are a new product. It takes some time to get the word out about products which are new to the market. Like many companies we are sure your pool company will realize that our diving board covers are an affordable and attractive way to protect their customers diving boards.

6) Why cover my diving board?

There are many reasons to cover your expensive diving board. During periods of non-use debris comes to rest on the board, often leaving deep and hard to remove stains. By covering your diving board it will help to keep it from getting stained and dirty, your board will look better longer thereby extending it's useful life.

Decided to remove the diving board? Finding a place to store it out of the way is very difficult. Chips or other damage to the fiberglass covering often result from dropping or knocking over the board. Lastly, back strain is often the result of lifting a heavy awkward diving board. Weather-Out™ diving board covers are attractive, durable, and affordable.

7) What are the benefits of using MouseAway™?

One benefit of using MouseAway™ is the avoidance of costly and messy damage caused by rodents. For instance if a rodent were to nest in your swimming pool heater, which is a common problem, they typically tear apart insulation and chew through wiring in order to make their nest. This causes many problems ranging from blocked venting, which can cause sooting or fire, to malfunctions which result in costly repairs and heater down time. By placing a MouseAway™ pouch in your pool heater (keep away from open flames) you will discourage rodents from nesting there.

Rodents also like to nest in mesh safety covers. As you know these covers are very expensive to purchase and just as expensive to repair. Nothing is worse than removing the cover from it's storage bag only to see the extensive damage that occurred from rodents chewing holes throughout the cover in an effort to make a nest. These problems and more can be avoided by simply placing a MouseAway™ pouch wherever needed to discourage rodent chewing and nesting behavior.

Another benefit of using MouseAway™ is that you avoid poisons and traps. Mothballs for instance emit hazardous fumes and like various poisons are dangerous for children, pets and wildlife that could ingest them. Even if you hide poisons very well so family pets or wildlife can't get at it, they can still be harmed if they ingest the poisoned rodent. Traps, on the other hand, are very cruel and messy. We don't know of anyone who enjoys cleaning up and disposing of the gruesome corpses.

MouseAway™ solves all these problems by keeping rodents out of equipment and other belongings safely and effectively.

8) How does MouseAway™ work?

Rodents have a very strong sense of smell. This is what they use to find food, mates and avoid enemies. MouseAway™ uses their exceptional sense of smell against them. A special blend of all natural essential oils contained in a muslin bag give off an odor repulsive to rodents but not people. Tested by persons within the swimming pool industry and utilizing the results of years of research, this all natural non-toxic blend was developed. The pouches should be replaced when the strong odor diminishes to the point that it's effectiveness is greatly reduced. Each pouch should last several months depending on the conditions in which they are used.

9) Does an all natural repellent like MosquitoAway really work?

Yes, MosquitoAway really works! Years of research has been done by entomology departments of leading universities on the effects of various natural oils on biting insects. MosquitoAway utilized that research to combine a blend of highly effective essential oils which mosquitoes hate! Imagine controlling biting insects such as mosquitoes, without chemicals and poisons that harm the environment, children and pets. Our blend of essential oils on a clay base is safe for people, plants and grass, when used as directed, and allows you to live and play in a safer healthier environment.
